The Town of Vanderhoof once again proved why it is known as the Heart of the Nechako during a festival event on Dec. 6. With crisp, cold temperatures, bringing the holiday cheer, had residents calling the celebration “the best year yet.”

The parade route followed traditional Vanderhoof pathways, passing by local shops from Stewart Street to Bute Avenue.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Parade of Lights, which featured Merry Madness, a shopping sale at local businesses.

There were 48 floats this year in the parade, which was a record number for the event.

The Parade of Lights is more than an entertainment event; it is a tradition passed through generations. It is a chance for local businesses to give back to the community that supports them. It’s a reminder of the Indigenous heritage, agricultural roots, and the industrial backbone that shape the town. It brings families together outdoors during the darkest month of the year to shine a light on the town.
